Feeling disconnected is a very common feeling in our society.
We have so many different ways to communicate, and yet often it just doesn’t help us to feel connected. Sometimes we can even be in the middle of a group or an intimate relationship and still feel disconnected.
There are many reasons why this occurs in our lives, but at the core of it is a disconnection from our self. It is because we have become separated from our own feelings, emotions, passion and purpose. We are not living our lives consciously or mindfully and we are not living the life our soul desires. We are disconnected from the life of our dreams.

I started using a version of this ritual after my life fell apart 20 years ago, and still use it today in my journaling. I had been made redundant from the BEST job I’d ever had. My husband of 20 years left me for another woman. I then ran away to go skiing in France… only to fall and need a knee reconstruction. It all hit me hard – I had lost everything in my life that I measured my self-worth by – my job/career, my relationships and my body. They were all “taken away” from me. The result was – I disconnected from myself and the world around me.
This ritual really helped me become aware of what I was truly feeling and what I needed to meet my own needs. I am sure it will help you to become more mindful of your feelings and the nurturing you need.
